For those of you under 21 who still want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family, here are five suggestions on how to join in the fun without having to drink.
Take part in a traditional Irish meal
Eating is always an excellent way to celebrate on holidays. In this case the traditional St. Patrick’s day meal would be corn beef, cabbage, and potatoes.
Learn an Irish dance
Another great way to revel is to dance. While some jigs can be intricate, there are just as many simple ones ranging from 3-5 steps.
Attend the local St. Patrick’s Day Parade
This is a way of showing a little support to the participants of the parade, without feeling out of place, because there will be all kinds of people there, not just heavy drinkers and partiers. However, if this is a bit out of your comfort zone watching the New York Parade from the luxury of your smartphone is always an option.
Win at “wear green” day
While it is not the traditional color of St. Patrick, green is widely recognized as the color to wear in support of his day. So, pack as much clover green into your clothing: green t shirt, green jeans, green jacket, green socks, green eyebrows, green colored contacts, green face paint and whatever else your dress code allows.
Watch an Irish Film
This is probably the least effort required of an item on this list. Who doesn’t love roughly two hours of Daniel Day-Lewis anyway? Check out An Introverted St. Patrick’s Day to see what movies you could watch while celebrating.
